Costa Mesa: Man Killed In Solo Freeway Crash

10.26.2021 | 11:46 PM | COSTA MESA – A man was killed when his vehicle collided with a jersey barrier at the end of a freeway on ramp, late Tuesday night.

The crash was reported at the end of the Bristol Street on ramp to the northbound I-405 Freeway shortly after 11:45 PM.

When units arrived on scene they located a red 1992 Volvo 240 that was impaled by a jersey barrier with a male victim trapped inside.

Firefighter paramedics worked to free the injured man before transporting him to an area hospital.

The man was later pronounced deceased, according to radio traffic and a California Highway Patrol incident log.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash including whether speed or alcohol might have been involved.
