Costa Mesa: Illegal Fireworks Ignite Brush Fire

07.08.2019 | 12:30 AM | COSTA MESA – Teenagers setting off illegal fireworks ignited a brush fire, early Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a brush fire burning inside Fairview Park in the 2300 block of Canyon Drive around 12:30 AM.

Crews arriving on scene found a small brush fire within the park and worked to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes.

Witnesses on scene reported seeing a group of four teenage males setting off bottle rockets within the park when the fire started.

According to the witnesses, the group of teenagers fled from the park and left in a dark colored vehicle when the fire broke out.

Officers were in the area searching for the suspects.
