Costa Mesa: Fiery Freeway Crash Destroys Car

02.27.2021 | 1:23 AM | COSTA MESA – Several people escaped serious injuries after a multi-car wreck caused one vehicle to become engulfed in flames, early Saturday morning.

The crash was reported on the northbound I-405 Freeway south of Harbor Boulevard around 1:23 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a crash involving as many as three vehicles that had all pulled to the right shoulder.

One of the vehicles, a grey 2018 Ford Fusion, caught fire as a result of the collision and was soon engulfed in flames.

All occupants from the Ford were able to escape the vehicle before it was consumed by fire. None of the occupants appeared injured.

Firefighters responded and extinguished car the fire in about 10 minutes but the vehicle was destroyed.

The drivers of two other vehicles, a gold 2004 Toyota Highlander and a grey 2002 GMC Envoy, refused medical treatment at the scene.

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the cause of the crash.
