01.10.2025 | 9:50 PM | COSTA MESA – A suspected DUI driver was arrested after a fiery crash into a clothing store, Friday night.
Authorities responded to reports of a green Jeep that had collided with the front of Lubiani, a clothing store located in the 1700 block of Newport Boulevard, around 9:50 PM.
When crews arrived they found the Jeep along with flames spreading that had extended from the vehicle into the store.
Officers quickly evacuated building occupants while firefighters doused the blaze in what was declared a 2-alarm fire.
The driver of the Jeep, a 35-year-old male resident of Laguna Niguel, was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital for medical clearance following his arrest on suspicion of DUI.
No other injuries were reported and all lanes of northbound Newport Boulevard were closed at Rochester Street for hours while crews worked to battle the blaze.
