09.07.2025 | 12:55 AM | BUENA PARK – A woman was killed after she exited a vehicle driven by her reportedly drunken husband and was struck by multiple vehicles that fled the scene, early Sunday morning.
The incident began to unfold on the westbound SR-91 Freeway at Knott Avenue around 12:55 AM when callers reported seeing two women exit a black SUV.
One of the women, who was later reported to be the wife of the black SUV’s driver, was struck by multiple vehicles and died at the scene. The second woman made it to a shoulder and was uninjured.
All vehicles involved, including the black SUV, fled the scene. Police later located the black SUV near Western Avenue and 8th Street after contacting its driver via telephone. The driver was detained but it was unclear if he was placed under arrest.
The identify of the deceased woman was not disclosed and there were no reports that any of the vehicles that struck her contacted law enforcement.
All lanes of the westbound SR-91 Freeway were closed for hours with traffic being diverted off at Knott Avenue while police investigated.
A spokesman for the CHP was unable to provide additional information regarding the incident.
