Brea: Man Who Struck Numerous Vehicles With Hammer Arrested After Standoff

12.11.2021 | 10:00 AM | BREA – A man who barricaded himself inside his home for hours after striking multiple vehicles with a hammer was arrested by police, Saturday evening.

The standoff began after officers attempted to contact 58-year-old Nick Papin, of Brea, who was reportedly striking vehicles with a hammer near the intersection of Greenbriar Lane and South Associated Road around 10:00 AM.

Papin barricaded himself inside his home and refused to comply with officers leading on a standoff that lasted until 7:00 PM when he was apprehended.

Police say Papin struck both parked and moving vehicles and was expected to be charged with aggravated assault, felony vandalism, and throwing objects at moving vehicles.

Records indicate Papin is being held at Orange County Jail in lieu of $105,000 bail. H
