Anaheim: Women Trapped Following High-Speed Pursuit Crash

03.24.2024 | 1:56 AM | ANAHEIM – A pursuit ended with a high-speed crash that trapped an innocent driver in her vehicle, early Sunday morning.

Officers spotted a grey 2005 Acura TL driving recklessly run a red light near the intersection of East Street and La Palma Avenue and attempted to stop the vehicle shortly before 2:00 AM.

The driver of the Acura failed to stop and sped away from officers for about a minute before colliding with a red Scion XB near the intersection of South East Street and East Vermont Avenue.

The force of the impact trapped the female driver of the Scion in her vehicle. Firefighters extricated the trapped victim using Jaws of Life in a rescue that lasted about 30 minutes. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital with minor to moderate injuries, police said.

Officers took the driver into custody, who was later transported to a local hospital for medical clearance, without further incident.

Police identified the driver as an 18-year-old Moreno Valley man who is facing charges including felony DUI, reckless driving, and evading an officer causing injury.
