Anaheim: Suspected DUI Driver Flips Car After Crashing Into Power Pole

03.25.2023 | 10:44 PM | ANAHEIM – A driver whose vehicle downed a power pole and flipped upside down in a suspected DUI crash escaped serious injuries, late Saturday night.

The crash was reported in the 9700 block of Cerritos Avenue in unincorporated Anaheim, near Perdido Street, around 10:44 PM when a white Toyota Camry lost control and struck a power pole.

The impact downed the power pole leaving live high-voltage lines down in lanes and caused the Toyota to overturn onto its roof.

Firefighters assisted the driver and solo occupant of the vehicle by directing them around the downed lines to safety.

Medics evaluated the driver, who appeared to have sustained only minor injuries, at the scene.

Officers were investigating drugs and alcohol as potential factors in the crash.

All lanes of Cerritos Avenue were closed while utility crews worked to secure the downed power pole.
