01.20.2023 | 1:00 AM | ANAHEIM – A suspect that briefly fled from police was arrested following an hours long standoff with SWAT team in a 7-Eleven parking lot, early Friday morning.
The incident began to unfold when officers attempted a traffic stop on a white 1999 Ford F-150 pick-up truck parked in a red zone around 1:00 AM.
The male driver and solo occupant of the truck briefly fled from police before coming to a stop in a 7-Eleven parking lot, located in the 900 block of East Katella Avenue, around 1:00 AM.
Officers surrounded the pickup truck and gave commands to the driver who refused to comply and appeared to be using narcotics. The man refused to comply leading to a standoff with police that lasted until around 5:00 AM.
A SWAT team eventually deployed a host of less-lethal munitions including a concussion device, PepperBall projectiles, and tear gas to bring the stalemate to an end.
Medics evaluated the suspect at the scene before transporting to an area hospital for further treatment.
Additional information regarding the incident was not immediately available.
