09.02.2022 | 2:37 PM | ANAHEIM – A domestic violence suspect was arrested following a standoff that prompted officers to open fire, although nobody was struck, early Friday morning.
The incident began to unfold when officers arrived at a local hospital around 12:19 AM on Friday morning. There they interviewed a 30-year-old female victim of domestic violence who reported that a suspect, identified as Gonzalo Dominguez, 35, of Anaheim, had assaulted the her inside his home in the 2700 block of West Parkside Lane.
The victim also told officers that Dominguez had several firearms in his possession.
Officers responded to Dominguez’ home and surrounded it while attempting to contact Dominguez. At the same time police dispatchers learned that Dominguez had contacted the Orange County Health Care Agency’s – Mobile Crisis Assessment Team (CAT) and was threatening to shoot someone.
A standoff ensued and Dominguez eventually exited his home around 2:30 AM armed with a AR-15 style rifle. A confrontation ensued and at least one officer fired his weapon, although nobody was struck by the gunfire.
After the shooting Dominguez retreated into his home before eventually surrendering without further incident following negotiations with police personnel around 3:24 AM.
Dominguez was arrested and charged with multiple felonies including domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, and assault on a police officer. He is being held in the Anaheim Police Detention Facility.
No officers were injured in the incident and the extent of the female victim’s injuries were not disclosed.
