Anaheim: Unprovoked Stabbing Leaves Man Dead, Suspect Arrested

09.10.2021 | 10:13 PM | ANAHEIM – A man was under arrest after the unprovoked stabbing death of a security guard, Friday night.

Authorities responded to multiple calls reporting an assault in progress behind a business in the 1800 block of West Lincoln Avenue around 10:15 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a male victim, later identified as 46-year-old Joseph Paul Gomez, of Tustin, suffering from multiple stab wounds and began life-saving measures.

Firefighter paramedics took over medical treatment and rushed Gomez to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Officers stopped a man, later identified as 24-year-old Andrew Isaiah Godinez, a transient from the Anaheim area, a short distance away from where the assault occurred.

Godinez was later placed under arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing and booked into the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

Police say Gomez was working as a security guard at a business when Godinez stabbed him in what appears to be an unprovoked attack.

Investigators are on scene interviewing multiple eyewitnesses and attempting to review a number of surveillance cameras that may have captured the attack on video.
