09.10.2021 | 10:13 PM | ANAHEIM – A man was under arrest after the unprovoked stabbing death of a security guard, Friday night.
Authorities responded to multiple calls reporting an assault in progress behind a business in the 1800 block of West Lincoln Avenue around 10:15 PM.
Units arriving on scene located a male victim, later identified as 46-year-old Joseph Paul Gomez, of Tustin, suffering from multiple stab wounds and began life-saving measures.
Firefighter paramedics took over medical treatment and rushed Gomez to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Officers stopped a man, later identified as 24-year-old Andrew Isaiah Godinez, a transient from the Anaheim area, a short distance away from where the assault occurred.
Godinez was later placed under arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing and booked into the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
Police say Gomez was working as a security guard at a business when Godinez stabbed him in what appears to be an unprovoked attack.
Investigators are on scene interviewing multiple eyewitnesses and attempting to review a number of surveillance cameras that may have captured the attack on video.
Anyone with information regarding the fatal stabbing or who has contacted Godinez in the past is urged to contact the Anaheim Police Department’s Homicide Detail by calling (714) 321-3669.
