Anaheim: Pursuit Ends At Suspect’s Home

06.16.2021 | 2:30 PM | ANAHEIM – A suspect led officers on a pursuit that ended just outside his home, early Wednesday morning.

Irvine police attempted to contact the driver of the white 1999 Ford Econoline van sometime around 2:30 PM.

The driver of the van refused to cooperate with officers and fled, prompting a half-hour pursuit from Irvine to Anaheim via the I-5 Freeway.

The suspect exited at Lincoln Avenue and circled residential neighborhoods before ditching his vehicle near his home in the 1500 block of West Juno Avenue and attempting to flee on foot.

Officers quickly apprehended the man and took him into custody after a brief struggle.

When asked why he fled, the suspect said he “had to get home.”

It remains unclear what prompted police to contact the man in Irvine or whether he was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol but radio traffic indicated he may have had warrants for his arrest.
