Anaheim: Outstanding Murder Suspect Arrested

03.21.2022 | 6:45 PM | ANAHEIM – An outstanding murder suspect was arrested and taken into custody, police announced Monday.

Franky Mejia Echeverria, 20, of Anaheim, the second of two murder suspects, was arrested on Mar. 18, 2022 at around 3:30 AM.

Deputies took Echeverria into custody without incident during a vehicle stop in the area of South Beach Boulevard and West Ball Road, police said.

He was booked into the Orange County Jail where he was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Echeverria’s accomplice, 21-year-old Damien Rubalcava, of Costa Mesa, was arrested weeks earlier on Mar. 3.

The arrests came after 23-year-old David Gutierrez Hernandez, of Anaheim was killed in a Dec. 21, 2021 gang-related shooting.

Hernandez, who was not gang-related, left behind two children and was killed near his home.
