01.01.2024 | 12:34 AM | ANAHEIM – A person was killed and their vehicle ripped to pieces in a horrific rollover crash near Disneyland, just minutes into the new year.
The deadly collision involving a grey Toyota occurred near the Disneyland Drive on ramp to the northbound I-5 Freeway around 12:34 AM.
One caller in a white Mercedes Benz SUV said that the Toyota collided with her vehicle on the on ramp before losing control and rolling over into the gore point.
Firefighters responding to the scene discovered the driver and solo occupant of the Toyota trapped in the wreckage and freed them using the Jaws of Life before pronouncing them deceased.
The impact of the collision destroyed the Toyota and sent debris flying onto the southbound I-5 freeway. One large piece of metal from the Toyota became lodged in a nearby tree.
Authorities searched the area using thermal imaging cameras but did not locate any additional victims from the Toyota.
A white cross constituted an apparent memorial just feet from where the Toyota came to rest and suggested that another fatality collision may have occurred in the same area.
The cause of deadly crash including whether drugs, alcohol, or speed might have been involved is under investigation.
